Players Code of Conduct
Introduction
As a member of OCVC, you represent our Club both on and off the court. You are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, respect, and responsibility. Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in suspension from tournament play or removal from the Club, as determined by the OCVC Board.
Sportsmanship and Respect
-
Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times—whether in practice, competition, or Club events.
-
Treat teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and spectators with respect.
-
Use appropriate language and never make derogatory remarks about others.
-
OCVC maintains a strict Zero Tolerance policy regarding bullying, cyberbullying, inappropriate use of social media, or any conduct detrimental to the Club.
Team Commitment
-
Support your teammates and coaches. Encourage one another and contribute positively to team culture.
-
Understand your role on the team, as communicated by your coach, and execute it to the best of your ability.
Respect for Officials and the Game
-
Accept the decisions of referees without argument or negativity, regardless of the outcome.
-
Applaud good play—whether from your team or an opponent—and honor the integrity of the sport.
Facility Responsibility
-
Treat all practice and competition facilities with care and respect.
-
Follow the rules and directions provided by those in authority.
Representation of OCVC
-
Represent the Club positively both on and off the court, especially when wearing OCVC apparel.
-
Conduct yourself in alignment with the Club’s philosophy and expectations at all times.
Attendance and Participation
-
Attend all practices and tournaments on time. Notify your coach in advance if you will be late or absent.
-
Excessive unexcused absences may result in warnings, suspension, or dismissal from the Club.
-
If dismissal is not possible due to roster limitations, the athlete may be permitted to finish the season; however, they will not be eligible to register for the following season.
-
Players may not leave a tournament without coach approval or prior notice (minimum 24 hours). Leaving early without permission is considered an absence.
(Refer to the Attendance Policy for details.)
Club Paperwork and Fees
-
All required paperwork (including this Code of Conduct) must be completed and submitted before participation.
-
Players will not be allowed to practice until all forms are submitted and fees are current.
-
All fees and deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Prohibited Substances
-
Use of tobacco, vaping products, drugs, or alcohol is strictly prohibited.
-
First violation: Suspension from the next tournament (or immediate suspension if it occurs at a tournament).
-
Second violation: Dismissal from the Club with no reimbursement.
-
Disciplinary Process
-
Any accusation of a Code of Conduct violation will result in a conversation with the athlete and parent/guardian.
Consequences will be determined by the OCVC Board based on the severity and nature of the violation.
